As we enter 2020 we would like to thank all our customers and partners for helping MSC R&D to continue our very strong growth path in 2019.

Despite the ongoing political and economic uncertainty, companies have continued to invest in R&D and our R&D Tax Relief client base has grown to record levels during 2019. Many of our clients have been with for us for years, reflecting the strong relationships we have built together.

Using our broad R&D expertise has enabled us to maintain our levels of R&D grant support to our clients, launch our specialist Capital Allowances Service, and establish our Technical Due Diligence service within the Venture Capital market.

This success could not be achieved without a significant investment in people and a commitment to achieving the highest possible quality in all areas, and we made excellent progress on our journey of continual improvement in 2019. We successfully passed our annual assessments for both Investors in People and ISO9001, and after the award of Committed to Excellence, we are currently working towards EFQM Recognised for Excellence. The aim of this is being entered into the UK Excellence Awards in 2020.

Recognising the ever-growing Cyber Security threat, we are also challenging ourselves to become ‘Best of Breed’ in the area of Data Security, with the objective of gaining ISO27001 (Data Security) accreditation by the end of 2020.

Now, as we enter a new decade, we can look forward to exciting times, or to paraphrase Boris Johnson’s New Year message –

“the starting gun has been fired on what promises to be a fantastic year and a remarkable decade for our United Kingdom. As we say goodbye to 2019 we can start a new chapter in the history of our country, in which we come together and move forward united, unleashing the enormous potential of the British people.

I want to make this country the best place on earth when it comes to cutting-edge science. We will transform this country’s approach to science and research, making the UK an engine for the ideas of the future.

Our vision is clear: to unite and level up across the whole United Kingdom – spreading opportunity more fairly – with better infrastructure, superb education and high technology.”

MSC R&D are committed to supporting tech businesses though helping them optimise their R&D Tax Relief and innovation funding opportunities – and we will continue to play our part in 2020 and beyond.

This will include actively lobbying (through our membership of key trade organisations such as techUK and CBI) for the government to fulfil its election manifesto commitments of improving the R&D Tax Credits scheme (Increasing the RDEC rate to 13% and reviewing widening the definition of R&D to include Cloud computing and Data) and potentially doubling the overall funding for business-led Research and Development to £18 billion over the next parliament.

So, why don’t you add - having the complete confidence that your R&D Tax Credit claims are being optimised – to your list of New Year resolutions and talk to MSC R&D about how we can help you achieve this.
